Experience Dublin

Dublin Surprising by Nature

Dublin Howth Walk

Just south of Dublin city centre lies the scenic, historical town of Dalkey, nestled amongst the many small harbours.  If you like to jump into experiences and enjoy adventure with great company, give Kayaking.ie a go and enjoy Dublin from a different angle.  The whole team here at Gantours can all recommend this adventure.

Kayaking

You may notice the beautiful historical peninsula of Howth as you fly into Dublin but nothing compares to hiking through the village and up to the summit.  Immerse yourself in scenery, history, culture and great food.  Enhance your experience by joining Howth Walking Tours and bring it all to life.

Musical Pub Crawl

Glasnevin Cemetery

A short 10 minute taxi hop from Dublin city centre, Glasnevin Cemetery offers a fascinating walk through the resting places of some of Irelands and the worlds most impressive people. From liberators, freedom fighters, romantic heroes, sports people, personalities, playwrights and more, Glasenvin by a guided walking tour from the visitor centre is truely one of the most interesting and eye opening activities to do in Dublin.  Tours are hourly.

Musical Pub Crawl

Not a drinking session but a cultural session that takes place in a pub where you can enjoy a pint or glass of your choice. We love this tour and think you will too.  Have an early dinner, join a musical pub crawl and be taken on a journey of myth, legend, music and laughter as you pub hop and learn about Irish music from professional musicians.  A great evening for young and old.

Bike tour of Dublin

We have biking history here at Gantours and touring Dublin by bike is certainly something we are big fans of doing.  We love the way you can get out and live, breath, taste and see Dublin through the eyes of a local as you are guided by some of the highlights this great city has to offer. A great experience, easy paced and fun to do.

Epic Ireland

If Glasnevin tells you the story of the great Irish who rest here, we let the guys at Epic tell you about the Irish who left and went onto great things, this great attraction is in the heart of Dublin: “You won’t find leprechauns or pots of gold here, but you’ll discover that what it means to be Irish expands far beyond the borders of Ireland through the stories of Irish emigrants who became scientists, politicians, poets, artists and even outlaws all over the world. Discover Ireland from the outside in and find out why saying “I’m Irish” is one of the biggest conversation starters, no matter where you are.”

Kilmainham Gaol

We have yet to have a disappointed visitor exit from Kilmainham Jail.  This 19th century prison details life behind bars when Ireland was under British Rule. Learn of rebels, heros and visionaries as you step back in time and walk in the footsteps of some of Irelands greatest Patriots.

Fab Food Trails

Like food? You’ll love this. Imagine somewhere that produces the best world class food, place it in the melting pot that is Dublin city and then get an expert guide with a glint in their eye who loves food and knows where to find it. Follow said guide as you meander through Dublin and experience a food tasting experience like no other. We at Gantours met Fab Food Trails when they were starting out, loved them then, love them even more now.  A really great outdoorsy food experience for young and old alike.

Dalkey Castle

If you like artisan shops, galleries, food and history coupled with meandering streets, castles and harbours away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life then Dalkey is the place for you. Dalkey Castle introduces itself at the start of this cultural hub and a tour of the castle is soaked in humour and great fun for all the family as you learn about local history and some very strange cultural practices that you’ll be thankful have become a thing of the past.

Merrion Square on Sunday

One of our favourite things to do in Dublin is to head into Dublin on a Sunday morning, after your breakfast but before the locals have managed to step outside, grab a coffee and stroll the length and breadth of Merrion Square marveling at the talented art on display.  Many of Dublin and Irelands great artists come out and display their art on the railings of Merrion Square and its just a joy to take time out and enjoy stepping into the artworld and experiencing the moment on a Sunday, every Sunday (from 10am onwards is best).
